SPEAKER SESSIONS

15 September 2022 | 10:30 - 11:00 | Designing Philosophy Lessons for High School Students

Philosophy can be introduced early to students. This session will showcase an example of a lesson plan that is aimed to engage high school students to think philosophically, get them to inquire about an issue through a series of questions and eventually read a brief philosophical article. The flow of the lesson follows a constructivist classroom. Teachers take into account students' everyday thinking about an issue before situating them in a philosophical context. The class will wrap up with students writing down the takeaway from the class and how it can transfer to other situations.
