Principal, Little Ants Preschool

Diana Bachtiar is a passionate educator and a lifelong learner. Her love of education has encouraged her to learn, teach and educate students, teachers and parents. She believes that all students are capable and great learners, and a teacher’s role is to spark the curiosity of students to motivate them to learn. She graduated from Bina Nusantara University Majoring in Information Technology of Computer Science, and Pelita Harapan University, Majoring in Educational Management for her master degree. At the moment, she is the School Principal of Little Ants Preschool, which is located in North Jakarta and Central Jakarta. She is also a Google Certified Trainer and Co-Leader of Google Educator Group West Jakarta. She has given training to teachers in Indonesia on how to use and apply technology in the classroom, as well as teaching young children, leadership, classroom management, mindfulness, and others.

Mindfulness is the act of paying attention to direct experience in the present moment and conducted without judgement. It can help you better understand how you feel and what you are experiencing. It is about being aware of the present moment, and when it is used practically in the classroom, it helps students to be aware of their own feelings and be ready to learn. Often said, mindfulness helps children and adults in understanding themselves and be better. Some schools claim to use mindfulness in the curriculum, but has the mindfulness practice been embodied in the classroom learning? How can teachers use mindfulness strategies and ideas in class in order to help students excel in their learning? This hands-on presentation will share mindfulness practice in the classroom and the benefits for students. Teachers, educators and parents of early years, primary and secondary levels are highly welcomed to join this session in order to experience and advantage mindfulness in lives.

Learning in the classroom is currently student-centered through the help of the curriculum. This is not only through educational applications, but also through learning strategies, as well as the use/implementation of existing resources in schools to increase student engagement, motivation and success. This presentation session will share how teachers can teach creatively, intelligently and interestingly by using technology in the classroom so that teaching and learning activities become faster, easier, and fun.
